Moka Pot Brew Guide (1:12 Ratio, 200°F)

What you need:

  • Fine-medium grind coffee (slightly coarser than espresso)

  • Moka pot

  • 200°F water

  • Scale (optional)

Ratio: 1g coffee : 12g water
(Example: 20g coffee → 240g water)
Most stovetop moka pots have fixed sizes—adjust accordingly.

Steps:

  1. Boil water, then let it cool to 200°F

  2. Fill bottom chamber with hot water just below the valve

  3. Fill filter basket with ground coffee, level off (don’t tamp)

  4. Assemble and place on medium heat

  5. Brew until you hear a hissing/gurgling sound (about 2–5 min)

  6. Remove from heat immediately

  7. Stir and serve

Iced Moka Pot Brew Guide (1:12 Ratio, 200°F)

What you need:

  • Fine-medium grind coffee

  • Moka pot

  • 200°F water

  • Ice

  • Scale (optional)

Ratio: 1g coffee : 12g total liquid
(Example: 20g coffee → ~240g yield, poured over 120g ice)

Steps:

  1. Heat water to 200°F

  2. Fill bottom chamber with hot water just below the valve

  3. Add coffee to basket (level, don’t tamp)

  4. Assemble and brew over medium heat

  5. Once it starts sputtering, remove from heat

  6. Immediately pour over ice in a carafe or glass

  7. Stir to chill, serve over fresh ice if desired
