Kalita Wave Brew Guide (1:16 Ratio, 200°F)

What you need:

  • Medium grind coffee

  • Kalita Wave + flat-bottom filter

  • Scale & timer

  • 200°F water

  • Mug or carafe

Ratio: 1g coffee : 16g water
(Example: 25g coffee → 400g water)

Steps:

  1. Rinse filter with hot water

  2. Add coffee and level the bed

  3. Bloom: pour ~50g water, wait 30 sec

  4. Slow pour remaining water in steady pulses

    • Finish by ~2:30

  5. Let drain (total time: 3:00–3:30)

  6. Swirl and serve

Iced Kalita Wave Brew Guide (1:16 Ratio, 200°F)

What you need:

  • Medium grind coffee

  • Kalita Wave + flat-bottom filter

  • Scale & timer

  • 200°F water

  • Ice

  • Mug or carafe

Ratio: 1g coffee : 16g total (hot water + ice)
(Example: 25g coffee → 250g hot water + 150g ice)

Steps:

  1. Add 150g ice to your carafe or mug

  2. Rinse filter, then add 25g coffee

  3. Bloom: pour ~50g water, wait 30 sec

  4. Slow pour remaining 200g water in stages

    • Finish by ~2:30

  5. Let drain completely (total time ~3:00)

  6. Swirl to chill, serve over fresh ice
